Melinda Hersey, Ph.D.
Dr. Melinda Hersey is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Medication Development Program. Her research focuses on using neurochemical techniques to study the dynamics of dopamine and other neurotransmitters in the brain. She also assesses the ability of novel compounds to act as potential targeted treatments for substance use disorders. She earned a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences with a focus in neuroscience from the University of South Carolina.
About This Talk
The central nervous system controls behavior, cognition, and emotion. Dr. Hersey will discuss the brain, how it controls the body, and what happens when that control goes awry. She will also present a history of neuroscience, human brain anatomy, brain disease pathology, and sensory systems.
