Summer Program
In 2014, there are 55 summer interns at NIDA IRP. Events include a scientific seminar series, neuroscience lectures, and workshops on poster preparation, giving oral presentations, and planning for graduate and medical school. Two Poster Days end the summer program, one at NIDA IRP on August 5 and one at NIH on August 7.
Postbaccalaureate Program
There are currently about 30 postbac students at NIDA IRP. Postbac training events during 2014-15 include seminars and workshops on applying to and succeeding in graduate and medical school, preparing for the GRE and MCAT, interviewing skills, poster preparation and presentation, and giving a scientific talk. Postbacs also participate in a monthly research lunch, involving data presentations. In May, we hold a postbac graduation luncheon.
Graduate Program
There are currently about 20 graduate students at NIDA IRP. The majority are part of the Graduate Partnership Program (GPP). The GPP allows graduate students to conduct dissertation research at NIH while enrolled at a university.
Postdoctoral Program
There are currently about 80 postdocs at NIDA IRP. Postdoc training events during 2014-15 include seminars and workshops on time management, workplace dynamics, teaching science, job search skills, career satisfaction, basic and advanced writing, grant writing, and mentoring. Postdocs also participate in a weekly research lunch, involving data presentations and occasional career speakers.
