David Epstein, Ph.D.
Dr. David Epstein is Chief of the Real-World Assessment, Prediction & Treatment Unit. His research interests span the biomedical, psychological, and social understandings of addiction. Research projects include studies of relapse-prevention medications, behavioral treatments, and real-time mobile assessment of daily lived experience with substance use disorders. Dr. Epstein earned his Ph.D. in behavioral neuroscience from Rutgers University.
About This Talk
Opioid use disorder (OUD) is the current terminology for opioid addiction. Dr. Epstein will discuss how people are diagnosed with OUD and the ways OUD is studied in humans and laboratory animals. He will sort myths from facts, emphasizing the complexity of any drug use or addiction.
