Carl Lupica, Ph.D.
Dr. Carl Lupica is Chief of the Electrophysiology Section. His research focuses on understanding the role of the endogenous cannabinoid system in regulating synaptic transmission and how this is disrupted during extended exposure to psychoactive components of cannabis. He uses a combination of preclinical experimental techniques, including electrophysiology, electrochemistry, and behavioral analyses of drug taking. Dr. Lupica earned a Ph.D. in physiological psychology at Wayne State University.
About This Talk
This talk will be an overview of cannabis (marijuana). Dr. Lupica will discuss the prevalence of cannabis use, the effects of cannabis on the brain and body, the progression from cannabis use to cannabis use disorder, and the current status of cannabis legalization/decriminalization.
