Background
Kim Slater, M.Ed., NCC, is a Clinical Operations Coordinator at the NIDA-IRP. She is a National Certified counselor, and regularly participates in ongoing professional development in the fields of addiction, counseling and psychology to maintain her certification.
Ms. Slater began her career at the NIDA-IRP in 2003 as a Clinical Recruiter for protocols in the Neuroimaging Research Branch (NRB). She became the Recruitment Services Manager for the NRB in February of 2005, and in October 2006, became a Research Associate for the NRB. In 2013, Ms. Slater became a Clinical Research Coordinator for the NRB and accepted the role as the primary treatment counselor for protocols involving smoking cessation. Ms. Slater now serves as a Clinical Operations Coordinator for the NRB and the NIDA IRP Neuroimaging Core, as well as Clinical Lab Manager for the NRB’s Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy Section. Her current role includes managing lab operations and overseeing the regulatory and compliance aspects of all NRB protocols for which Drs. Yihong Yang, Thomas Ross, and Betty Jo Salmeron serve as Principal Investigator. She also advises research teams on the development, operational logistics and implementation of protocols. Ms. Slater is also a member of the Office of the Clinical Director’s SOP Committee, having previously served as Chair and Vice Chair.
