Programa de Colaboración con Estudiantes de Posgrado
El Programa de Colaboración con Estudiantes de Posgrado (GPP) ofrece a los estudiantes de posgrado la oportunidad de realizar toda o parte de la investigación de su disertación en el NIDA. Los estudiantes llegan a NIDA como parte de una asociación formal de su institución con el NIH o a través de acuerdos individuales negociados entre su mentor universitario y un investigador de NIDA. En todos los casos, los títulos los otorga la universidad asociada.

The NIH Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP) provides doctoral students with the opportunity to conduct all or part of their dissertation research within the NIH Intramural Research Program while remaining enrolled as full-time students at a university in the United States or abroad. Graduate trainees at the NIDA Intramural Research Program work with NIH scientists on research related to substance use, addiction, neuroscience, behavior, and health.
In addition to intensive research training, graduate students can take advantage of scientific, career, professional development, advising, and well-being resources available through NIH OITE and NIDA’s Office of Education and Career Development (OECD).
Ways to Participate in GPP
Individual Partnerships
Individual Partnerships are designed for students who are already enrolled in a doctoral program and wish to conduct all or part of their dissertation research at NIH. Students must have the support of their home university and identify an NIH Principal Investigator who is willing to host their dissertation research. Individual Partnership applications are accepted throughout the year.

Institutional Partnerships
Institutional Partnerships are formal collaborations between NIH and participating universities. Students apply to a specific partnership and complete academic requirements through the partner university while conducting all or part of their dissertation research within the NIH Intramural Research Program. Eligibility requirements, application procedures, and deadlines vary by partnership.

Graduate Research at NIDA
Graduate trainees at NIDA join research groups within the Intramural Research Program and conduct dissertation research under the guidance of NIH investigators. Finding a Research Mentor at NIDA
For Individual Partnerships, graduate students must identify an NIH Principal Investigator who is willing to host their dissertation research. Prospective students interested in NIDA should review investigator research interests and contact potential mentors whose work aligns with their scientific goals.
When contacting a potential mentor, applicants may wish to:
- Introduce themselves and briefly describe their doctoral program and research interests.
- Explain why the investigator’s research is a good fit with their dissertation goals.
