Stephanie Weiss, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Stephanie Weiss is a Staff Clinician in the Translational Addiction Medicine Branch. Her research interests include novel psychoactive substances, medication misuse, and improving interpretation of urine drug testing. She provides clinical support to ongoing inpatient and outpatient research studies. Dr. Weiss received her PhD in pharmaceutical chemistry from the University of South Florida and her M.D. from Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. She is board certified in emergency medicine and medical toxicology.
About This Talk
There are many household substances that can be misused, including over-the-counter medications and inhalants. Dr. Weiss will discuss how these substances affect the brain and body, using examples such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and cough syrup (dextromethorphan).
