Jean Lud Cadet, M.D.
Dr. Jean Lud Cadet is Chief of the Molecular Neuropsychiatry Branch. His research focuses on the molecular neurobiology of substance use disorders and cognitive aspects of cocaine and marijuana use disorders. He currently investigates the epigenetic mechanisms that control stimulant-induced changes in the expression of genes in neurons within brain reward pathways. Dr. Cadet obtained his M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed residency training in psychiatry and neurology.

Methamphetamine is a psychostimulant used clinically to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder but is also used illicitly throughout the world. Dr. Cadet will discuss how methamphetamine affects the brain and body, the effects of chronic use, how someone is diagnosed with methamphetamine use disorder, and potential treatment strategies.
