Research Interests
Cecelia joined the Addiction Biology Unit in September 2017. Her research focuses on the role of cell type-specific cannabinoid CB1 and CB2 receptors in cannabis action with a special emphasis on the role of CB1 receptor in a subtype of dopamine-glutamate neurons in THC-induced aversion. She also participated in several medication development projects to explore the potential utility of selective CB2 receptor agonists and atypical dopamine transporter inhibitors in the treatment of substance use disorders. Currently, she is interested in studying the potential medicinal use of bioactive components extracted from plants and herbs and the underlying receptor mechanisms.
