Shehzad graduated with an AB from Princeton University in 2013 studying medieval Arabic and Persian literature and quantitative neuroscience. They went on to University of Illinois at Chicago to obtain a BS in Engineering Physics and researched the kinetics of DNA-binding proteins. In 2015, they moved to DC to complete an MS in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University studying neuron mechanotransduction and regeneration. Last year, they studied attention and cognitive event-related potentials in awake, freely moving rats at NIA-IRP. Shehzad is a currently a second year postbac fellow in NRB studying reward pathways in rodents using simultaneous optogenetics and fMRI.
