Background
Olivia Jennings joined Dr. Leggio’s CPN lab June 2022. She graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry, and Microbiology with a minor in Public Health. During her undergraduate, she worked to determine the effects of a novel adenosine A(2A) receptor agonist for substance abuse in a schizophrenia model. She also contributed to labs studying a novel anti-inflammatory treatment for Alzheimer’s Diseases and labs studying polymicrobial interactions with the goal of determining new potential antibiotics. Her research interests focus on studying the influences of polysubstance abuse on alcohol use disorder. At the CPN lab, Olivia supports clinical laboratory studies and will specially investigate alcohol and substance use disorders in relation to acute alcohol withdrawal.
