Research Interests
Nicolaus Bruns joined CPN in June of 2023. He graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology, concentration in psychopathology and a minor in neuroscience. In his undergraduate career, he studied concurrent nicotine and alcohol binge drinking behavior in transgenic opioid-receptor-knockout mouse models. Under the co-mentorship of Dr. Lorenzo Leggio and of Dr. Leandro Vendruscolo and Dr. George Koob (NIDA Intramural Research Program), Nicolaus is conducting preclinical research to assist in the identification of pharmacological compounds that can potentially treat addictive disorders.
