Research Interests
Melinda Hersey received her B.S. in biochemistry from Elon University, North Carolina in 2015. She went on to receive her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Neuroscience from the University of South Carolina in 2020. Her Ph.D. work focused on the roles of serotonin and histamine in inflammation-associated depression using microdialysis and fast scan cyclic voltammetry. Melinda joined the Medications Development Program as a research fellow in 2020. She works in Dr. Gianluigi Tanda’s lab employing neurochemical techniques to study dopamine dynamics and the ability of novel compounds as potential targeted treatments for drug abuse disorders.
