Research Interests
Lydia joined the Aponte lab as a postbaccalaureate research fellow in June 2020 after graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in biomedical engineering and a minor in applied mathematics. As an undergraduate, she developed computational models to study memory consolidation in the hippocampus and cell signaling during chromosomal segregation. Her research interests include using computational techniques to understand the neural circuitry underlying eating disorders, addiction, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Lydia plans to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience while continuing research in the neurobiology and treatment of psychiatric disorders.
