Research Interests
Dr. Lisa Farinelli is the NIDA Deputy Clinical Director and a Staff Scientist 2 serving the Office of the Clinical Director in the NIDA IRP. She assumes responsibility to supervise and facilitate the coordination and execution of all clinical research priorities among the PIs in the clinical program with advanced regulatory, administrative, clinical, and scientific expertise. With a PhD in Nursing, a Master of Business Administration, and advanced certifications as a Certified Clinical Research Professional and an Officer of Health Care Compliance, she supervises and contributes to the ethical, safe, and compliant conduct of the NIDA IRP clinical inpatient and outpatient human laboratory studies. She provides relevant trainings to clinical and research staff. Dr. Farinelli also continues her independent research advancing our understanding on personalized medicine in addiction focusing on the interaction between addiction and the cardiovascular system. Dr. Farinelli was presented with the 2016 NIH/NIAAA Operational Excellence Award and the 2023 and 2024 NIH/NIDA Director Merit Award.
