Research Interests
JoLynn Giancola graduated with honors from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Microbiology in 2016. Currently, she is working as a post-baccalaureate IRTA fellow in the Molecular Targets and Medications Discovery Branch at the National Institute on Drug Abuse-Intramural Research Program, under the mentorship of Dr. Amy Newman. Her work involves synthesizing novel compounds as atypical dopamine transporter (DAT) inhibitors and evaluating their binding affinities and selectivities in radioligand displacement assays. These compounds are being developed toward potential therapeutics for the treatment of cocaine and methamphetamine addiction.
