Dr. Daniel Roche joined Dr. Leggio’s NIDA/NIAAA CPN laboratory as a Staff Scientist in September 2026. Prior to joining the CPN lab, he was an Assistant Professor in the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center and Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland Baltimore. There, Dr. Roche directed the Baltimore Addiction Research Laboratory, which had two research objectives. The second was to leverage this knowledge into developing and testing novel pharmacological treatments for addictive disorders. His research was funded by NIAAA, NIDA, the California Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program, the Wellcome Leap, and the State of Maryland. Dr. Roche also severs as Deputy Editor of Translational Psychiatry. He received his B.A in Psychology and Neuroscience from University of Connecticut and his Ph.D. in Neurobiology in 2012 from the University of Chicago. At UCLA, he completed his postdoctoral training in the Department of Psychology and was faculty in the Department of Psychiatry.
