Research Interests
Caitie is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. She joined the Aponte Lab in Fall 2024 as a Pre-doctoral Visiting Fellow supported by a Fulbright Scholarship. She is interested in understanding the mechanisms underlying the efficacy of bariatric surgery, which is currently the most effective long-term treatment for obesity. To accomplish this, Caitie’s experiments involve a combination of behavioral testing, chemogenetics, in vivo calcium imaging, and optogenetics.
