Research Interests
Bree Humburg joined the Addiction Biology Unit in 2018 and left NIDA IRP in 2020. Then she worked with Dr. Chloe Jordan on several research projects to study neural mechanisms underlying cannabis and nicotine reward versus aversion using optogenetic intracranial self-stimulation (oICSS), optogenetic real-time place preference, classical conditioned place preference, and intravenous drug self-administration in rats and mice. In addition, she also participated in a medication development project to study the potential utility of dopamine D3 receptor antagonists in the treatment of substance use disorders. She is currently a graduate student at the University of Kentucky working on her Ph.D. in Psychology. There she is looking at the role of social peers in the contextual renewal of cocaine seeking in rats as well as immunohistochemistry to help understand the mechanisms underlying the behaviors.
