Amarachi Okorom

Research Interests

Amarachi Okorom received her B.A. in Chemistry from Smith College in 2021. As an undergraduate student, she fabricated chemically patterned hydrogels for the development of cell-instructive scaffolds under the guidance of Dr. Maren Buck. She joined the Medicinal Chemistry section of the Molecular Targets and Medications Discovery Branch in the summer of 2021 as an IRTA postbaccalaureate fellow and recipient of the Scientific Director’s Fellowship for Diversity in Research. Her work involves the synthesis and evaluation of novel atypical dopamine transporter inhibitors towards the goal of developing a small molecule drug that can assist in the treatment of cocaine use disorder.
