Research Interests
Adam received his B.A. in psychology (with a minor in neuroscience) from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota – you will of course recognize this as the town which, in 1876, defeated the Jesse James gang and scattered its members. Trapped up north with 18-hour-long nights and naught but frozen wasteland in all directions, the young Cuban-American from Miami resorted to psychological research, and quickly developed an interest in clinical neuroscience and substance abuse treatment – his thesis, an evaluation and critique of the treatment options available to adolescents with opioid use disorder, was awarded Distinction by an external panel of reviewers. Imagine his delight, then, when through a zany series of misadventures Adam would begin a correspondence with the esteemed Dr. David Epstein of NIDA! The two successfully applied for a Scientific Director’s Fellowship for Diversity in Research, and in 2018, Adam moved to Baltimore to begin his tenure as a post-baccalaureate researcher.
