NIDA Investigator Dr. Eliot Gardner has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS). The ICRS is a non-political, non-religious organization dedicated to scientific research in all fields of the cannabinoids, ranging from biochemical, chemical and physiological studies of the endogenous cannabinoid system to studies of the abuse potential of recreational Cannabis. In addition to acting as a source for impartial information on Cannabis and the cannabinoids, the main role of the ICRS is to provide an open forum for researchers to meet and discuss their research. Dr. Gardner has been a pioneer in the field of cannabinoid research from the mid-1980s to the present day. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 scientific articles, book chapters, or presentations at national and international scientific conferences on his cannabinoid research. He was a founding member of the ICRS in 1990.
