Research Interests
As an undergraduate, he studied whether video games can be addictive and how the COVID-19 pandemic changed the relationship between media use and mental health. Zachary’s research interests include how to better diagnose mental illnesses, developing evidence-based treatments to promote the healing of trauma, and how to build communal psychological resilience. Zachary is also interested in how substance users fit into society and how to promote acceptance and social reintegration. Alongside Dr. Curtis and her lab, Zachary is working on a project to examine what happens in the brain when someone feels stigmatized and how those feelings of stigma can impact alcohol consumption. Zachary plans to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology, where he hopes to research substance use, trauma, and healing.
