Research Interests
Reinis received his Ph. D. at the University of Helsinki, Finland in 2019. His doctoral research focused on nigrostriatal pathway neurodegeneration and pharmacological disruption of alpha synuclein aggregation in Parkinson’s disease in vitro and in vivo models. During his Ph.D. studies, in 2014, he had a short visit at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) in Baltimore, under the supervision of Dr. Harvey, where he designed and cloned DNA constructs for his doctoral studies. He joined NIDA as a visiting postdoctoral fellow under Dr. Harvey researching ER stress role and exodosis phenomenon on dopamine neuron degeneration with optogenetic and in vivo photometry approaches.
