Background
Fabien received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Bordeaux (France) in 2011 working on the maturation of goal-directed behavior and dopamine pathways during adolescence with Dr. E. Coutureau. During his first postdoctoral fellowship in Bordeaux with Dr. M. Cador and Dr. G. Feirrera, he studied the impact of the consumption of palatable food (high sugar or high fat) during adolescence on reward-related processes and cortico-limbic circuits. In 2017, Fabien moved to the University of Leicester (UK) for a second postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. J. McCutcheon investigating the role of mesolimbic circuits in protein appetite using in vivo fiber photometry recordings. Fabien is interested in how hypothalamic and cortico-limbic systems interact to regulate food choice and food-seeking behaviors. For this, he is using a multilevel-approach combining sophisticated behavioral tests, neuronal circuit targeting, and in vivo calcium imaging.
