Research Interests
Andrea Casiraghi got his Master’s Degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Milan (Italy) in 2016, joining the Research Group of Prof. Ermanno Valoti for a thesis work focused on the design and synthesis of inhibitors of the bacterial protein FtsZ as novel antimicrobials. He continued in the same group as Ph. D. candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences, working on the design and synthesis of methylphenidate analogs as possible antiparkinsonian agents. At the present moment, he is spending one year as a pre-doctoral Visiting Fellow at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) in Baltimore, under the supervision of Dr. Amy Newman, with a research project focused on the synthesis of fluorescent molecular probes for the NET transporter.
