Research Interests
Kaiya Keckler received her B.S. in Cellular, Molecular, and Physiological Biology in 2024 and her B.M. in Vocal Performance in 2023 from Christopher Newport University. During her time at CNU, she had the opportunity to perform undergraduate research under Dr. Denise Tombolato-Terzic in the Department of Molecular Biology and Chemistry. This research focused on pursuing RT-PCR false positive elimination when investigating plasmid gene expression.
While at Christopher Newport University, Kaiya also served as a research apprentice under the guidance of Dr. Chelsey Hamm in the Department of Performing Arts. Throughout this apprenticeship, Kaiya aided in the creation of interactive examples in Open Music Theory, an online music theory textbook. She has also done independent research in the realms of vocal pedagogy, music history, and linguistics.
