Research Interests
Dr. Jitendra Vishwakarma joined Dr. Leggio’s l laboratory as a visiting postdoctoral fellow in July 2025. He earned his master’s degree in biotechnology from the University of Calicut, Kerala, India, in 2015, and completed his Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the CSIR–Indian Institute of Toxicology Research in 2023. His doctoral research focused on the effects of arsenic exposure and thyroid hormone deficiency on the cerebellum in rats.
In July 2024, he joined Dr. Jean Lud Cadet in the Molecular Neuropsychiatry Branch at the National Institute on Drug Abuse as a postdoctoral fellow, where his work centered on the transcriptional profiling of brain reward circuits in response to psilocybin and its impact on methamphetamine self-administration.
Currently, Dr. Vishwakarma is involved in translational clinical research projects within the CPN Lab, focusing on the neuroendocrinology of alcohol and substance use disorders.
