Research Interests
Dr. Ryan Tyler received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (PI: Joyce Besheer, Ph.D.) in May 2023. He joined Dr. Leggio’s CPN laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow in July 2023. Dr. Tyler’s graduate work explored the effects of a traumatic stressor on interoceptive sensitivity to alcohol in rodents using drug discrimination techniques. Dr. Tyler received an NRSA F31 fellowship from NIAAA and was selected as a Rising Star in Neuroscience by the University of Utah in 2022. Dr. Tyler has given invited presentations at several conferences, including the Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) Alcohol and the Nervous System, the Research Society for Alcohol (RSA), and the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) conferences. Before graduate school, he worked as a postbaccalaureate IRTA fellow in the Laboratory of Neuroimaging, NIAAA (PI: Nora Volkow, M.D.). Dr. Tyler is currently exploring human research projects related to the neuroendocrinology of alcohol use disorder in the CPN lab.
